    Metairie Country Club Course Review

The Metairie Country Club was founded way back in 1922 as a place where its members can enjoy an atmosphere of social elegance and leisure. The Metairie Country Club was actually opened as an exclusive golf club and it soon gained a great reputation among golf enthusiasts due to its innovative golf course design, which takes a unique approach for each and every hole, being a replica of an American or Scottish golf course. All these features make the Metairie Country Club one of the most loved and revered golf resorts in Louisiana. The golf course itself was designed by the famous architect Seth Raynor in 1922 and it features 6574 yards of golf from its longest tees for a 72 par. After playing a few rounds here, youll discover that the Metairie Country Club is the definition of a rare, southern Raynor routing and design, very fun to play and featuring fabulous par 3s, an outstanding par 5 and a truly challenging par 4. The golf course is in excellent shape at all times, the staff is friendly and the overall experience is phenomenal.

I really hope youre lucky enough to be invited for playing the Metairie. This is an excellent old-school golf course, featuring a wide variety of holes, some long, some short etc, with challenging greens, which are undulating and very fast indeed. The golf course has a rating of 71.1 and a slope rating of 130 on Bermuda grass. After the hurricane Katrina, which did some damage to the original design, the Metairie golf course was restored recently by Ron Forse and its really playable, regardless of your skill level, always kept in an impeccable condition. All the greens are elevated, whilst the drainage job is perfect, making the course playable even after heavy rains. The design is a links style course, with water hazards coming into play now and then, together with strategically placed trees here and there. While the Metairie Country Club is not as famous as others in Louisiana, it is outstandingly routed and designed.
